New Zealand Night Sky in September and October 2011

This is around the first quarter moon; constellations can be identified, best time to view the craters on the moon and other lunar features
1 - 7, 30

Limited viewing dates:
This is around the full moon; best time to view the lunar ray systems, the brightness of the moon washes out faint stars and faint deep space objects, constellations difficult to identify.
8 - 16

Dark Sky dates:
This is when little or no moon is visible; best for constellation viewing and for more advanced students to see deep space objects such as star clusters and galaxies.
