Rugby World Cup Ticket update

Figures released by Rugby New Zealand 2011 state that 864,000 tickets have been sold out of a projected 1.45 million. Revenues have reached $166 million and the target is $268 million.

Rugby New Zealand 2011 is happy with the success so far even though there are areas where ticket sales are lagging.

Some of the areas where tickets sales are lagging are Rotorua and Whangarei; in Rotorua only 14,000 of the 59,000 tickets have been sold and in Whangarei where Canada play their first game against Tonga only 8,000 tickets of the 24,000 have been sold for the 2 games played there including the other game between Tonga and Japan.

Survey results show independent travellers are planning to come to New Zealand for an average of 23 days and 44% say it will be their first visit.
