It is situated on Lake Ohakuri and you access it via rural roads just North of Lake Taupo. Orakei Korako is one of the most impressive geothermal fields in world with up to 35 active geysers, sinter terraces, hot springs and other interesting features.
The official website for Orakei Korako stated that the admission fees are $36 for adults and $15 for children. I would suggest keeping the kids on a tight leash around the thermal pools. The park opens at 8am and closes at 4pm in winter.
