Last weekend we attended Possak Feis at the Tower in Calgary. On Friday Tegan was involved in 2 figure dances, figure dances are dances that involve other dancers from her school performing a synchronized dance routine. One of the dances was a 2-hand and the other was a 4-hand dance. 2-hand is dancing a dance with a partner or 2 dancers and the 4-hand has 4 dancers performing their routine. Tegan and her friends didn't win anything this night, but they enjoyed themselves and it really is about friendships strengthen the bonds between the dancers.
On the Solo dances that Tegan performed, she placed in 4 of the 6 dances and won 1 of the 3 trophy dances that she participated in.
Here are the dances and the placings:
Beginner, Slip Jig (U7) - 3rd place
Advanced Beginner, Light Jig (U8) - 3rd place
Beginner, Treble Jig (U8) - 2nd place
Beginner, Hornpipe (U8) - 3rd place
Beginner Trophy, Reel Special (U6) - 1st place
This was Tegan's first 1st place trophy. She was so happy to get it and she even brought a little tear to my eye.
The next decision we have to make is whether to participate in another out of town feis prior to the last feis in Calgary that is held in June. I love to watch my daughter dance and help her every step of the way.
