MacBook Pros update this Thursday, February 24th

Some of the current rumours:

-Dedicated SSD for OSX system files

-Lightpeak connectivity

-Faster and more efficient Intel Sandy Bridge processors

-Look and feel like MacBook Air line

-Larger trackpad

-Liquid metal shell

-MacBook Pros will be lighter, thinner, cheaper, faster, have bigger batteries

The good thing is that we only have a couple of days to wait for the new update!

March 2011 launch for new MacBook Pro

Despite Intel's faulty Sandybridge processors, there is a possibility that the faulty part of the chip doesn't effect the MacBook Pro's operation and therefor the launch of the new MacBook Pro should happen this March and as early as the 1st.  But a more logical launch date will be March 11th, 2011.

The signs out there point towards a new launch and soon.  Stock is low or completely out on some models from online Apple store, this was the rumour, but I just checked and I found stock on all models from store.apple.com and store.apple.com/ca.  So, this doesn't hold up to the rumour anymore.  Supposedly Bestbuy have dummy skus ready and dated March 11th for the upcoming MacBook Pros.

My guesses at what will be included in new MacBook Pro's:

2011 MacBook Pro 15" & 17"
  • no optical drive
  • flash storage (as in Air)
  • Sandybridge processor
  • onboard graphics / optional AMD graphics card
