Rugby Day in Canada Magazine

Coverage of rugby by the media in Canadia is minimal at best.  Having Universal Sports and NBC broadcasting some of the RWC 2011 games is welcome news.

Broadcasters have a difficult time making money from Rugby Union games because there are no breakages in play like other currently broadcast sports.  Rugby sevens was added to the 2016 Olympics in Rio and there is a need to educate and gain interest in the sport ahead of the games.  I would hope that some tournaments are added to the broadcasting schedules to produce interest and gain support of the teams and country.  Sevens offers short halfs and lots of time to insert money making commercials in between games or even during halftime.

...but all this is great for US rugby fans as the support will largely be focused on their team I am sure.

Canadian rugby supporters can rejoice that we have a fantastic rugby publication available to us.  The magazine is called Rugby Day in Canada and it contains segments from different regions of Canada, interviews/bios of current players, and plenty of sharp photos of rugby action.

The current magazine and back issues are available for purchase through the following link Rugby Day in Canada: the magazine for Canadian Rugby Supporters

In the current issue there is a nice center piece spread of the "The Rugby Canada Pro Report" highlighting the talent of our National Senior Mens Team.  I really do enjoy this rugby magazine; as it is well written, the graphical layout is upbeat and fresh and the photos are in perfect ratio to the written articles.

Since the magazine is dishing out letter grades on our senior men's players, here is my report on the magazine. A-  (I am sure it will only get better, great work!)
