The Adelaide Sevens are up next April 2-3 2011 and Canada won't be there. Will Canada be playing at the England Sevens or the Scotland Sevens tournaments? I wonder what it would take to get Canada into the World Series in a major way? Is it Money?
Some thoughts on the current rugby sevens development in Canada
- Canada should play every game of the HSBC Sevens World Series
- All of the pool games. 1/4 final games, semi finals and final games that Canada play at these sevens tournaments should be on a national sports broadcast station
- It should be a mandatory sport taught at our schools in grade school and then voluntarily played at a secondary level
- 2016 - Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics, Rugby Sevens added to the sport programme. We need to develop players for these games. That would mean that we would be looking at our current secondary schools and teen club rugby programmes for Olymipic class players. We really have to prepare now.
