Blakey Calgary Feis Results 2011

Tegan was in here 2nd feis of this dance season and 1st of 2011 this past weekend.  Friday was a fun day and Tegan participated in her first 4 hand dance competition.  This is where 4 dancers take the stage and dance to a choreographed routine.   I thought they did well and was impressed by there effort and how clean the dance was.  The judging didn't see it my way that evening.  Her 2 hand dance was a little choppy and maybe it was working out the jitters for the first dance of the year.

Sunday was an early start with getting up at 6am and showering. doing hair and getting dressed an out the door.  Unfortunately Tegan didn't get enough breakfast into her and she struggled with the 6 early dances.  It was sad to see her like that, since she usually performs so much better.  She didn't look like she was having all that much fun dancing those dances.  I couldn't even get her attention on stage to give her pointers.  Oh well...  She managed to get 2- 3rd places. however one competition was only with 2 others.

After getting those 6 dances out of the way, we sat in the lobby and had a big egg, ham and cheese burrito.  What a difference that made!

In here final 2 trophy dances she danced 2 out of the 3 dances really well.  The competition was steeper however with 18 dancers she managed a 4th place in U10 Treble Reel Special.  She is only 6!

In February, we head up to Edmonton for her first out-of-town feis.  She is excited and this time I am going to make sure she has lots of energy for the dances.

I am really happy with her results considering how difficult it must have been for her to find the energy to pull off the dances.  Great job Tegan, you can only do better with the next feis.  Go girl!

MJP Academy of Irish Dance is the school that Tegan attends, there were 47 dancers and here were the results:

Teams: 7 Placings
Solos: 149 Medals and 42 Trophies
