Last Churchill Cup goes to England Saxons

With the final score being 37-6 in favour of England over Canada, England wins the last Churchill Cup in fine style.  The 2011 Churchill Cup was a proving ground for many players including many on the Canadian team as they edge closer to final player selections for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.  The 2011 Churchill Cup final was in my opinion an impressive show from Canada.  There were obvious areas that needed help, but the quality of rugby from this Canadian side is in good shape.

Notable Canadian players from the match are Pat Riordan, Jebb Sinclair, Chauncey O'Toole, James Pritchard and Ryan Smith

This is the last time the Churchill Cup will be played.   Canada and USA are now included in the IRB's tournaments and tour schedule and this means that our national teams will face other top test-playing nations next summer.

The decision to end a Churchill Cup agreement that began with the inaugural competition in 2003 was taken jointly by the Rugby Football Union, USA Rugby and Rugby Canada, in consultation with the IRB.

This sounds like a move forward for rugby in Canada and the USA.
